Healthy SMEs for a healthy economy
In Turkey, 99 percent of companies are small- and medium-sized enterprises, in other words, SMEs.
According to Turkish Statistical Institute (TÃÄ°K) data from 2012, SMEs constitute 76 percent of employment and 63 percent of the total turnover and are generally defined as the âbackboneâ of the economy.

Bulgaria's SMEs to Be Included In A National Registry
Bulgaria's Small and Medium Enterprises Agency launched a national registry for the country's SMEs, reports News.bg.
The project costs BGN 400 000 and is funded by the European Social Fund and the Administrative Capacity programme.

EIB to provide another 200 mln euros for Greek SMEs
The European Investment Bank (EIB) said on Tuesday that it would be providing another 200 million euros for Greek small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through local banks.
The loans, 150 million euros of which is going to the National Bank of Greece and 50 million to Alpha Bank, are intended to finance projects in the industry, tourism and services sectors.
One in two SMEs at risk of closure
One in every two small and medium-sized Greek enterprises is facing the threat of closure within 2014, while for very small businesses the risk concerns two out of three, according to a Marc survey conducted for the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen and Merchants (GSEVEE) and presented on Tuesday in Thessaloniki.
