Sofia Airport is Operational Despite the Severe Winter Conditions

Today, Sofia Airport works in winter and in heavy snowfall conditions. This was reported by the airport press center. Take-off and landing tracks, movement ways and platforms are cleaned from the snow. Anti-icing procedures for the aircraft are carried out. Because of the snowfall the flights are running with a certain deviation from the schedule.

The Weather Situation is Complicated: Snow Across the Country, Temperatures Fall

Precipitation will continue today and there will be snow over the whole country. More significant will be in Western Bulgaria. Snow cover is expected to form. The maximum temperatures in the country will reach minus 2-3 degrees, in Sofia - about minus 1 degree.

Today it will be mostly cloudy with precipitations, mainly rain. In Northwestern and the high fields of Western Bulgaria, mostly in the morning, the rain will be mixing with and transitioning into snow.

There will be light, in the Danube Plain and Eastern Bulgaria to moderate wind from east-northeast.

Code yellow advisories of abundant snowfall and blizzards will become valid starting this evening for 20 counties of Romania, with precipitation and winds picking up speed to be expected in the remaining counties, according to the National Weather Administration (ANM).
