Cross-party committee reaches agreement on diaspora vote

A cross-party committee discussing ruling New Democracy's initiative to grant full voting rights to diaspora Greeks reached a consensus, Interior Minister  Takis Theodorikakos announced on Tuesday evening.

Lawmakers agreed that the vote will count towards the overall election result and that diaspora Greeks will be able to select among 15 (previously 12) candidates from a state list.

Now that the topic of the voting rights of diaspora Greeks has been extensively debated between the country's political leaders, one thing is clear: Facilitating the electoral participation of Greeks living in foreign countries would not lead to an expansion of the electoral body.

AEP: 38,944 Romanians abroad enrolled for voting at polling stations; 41,003 are to vote by mail

The deadline for Romanians abroad to enroll for the voting in the presidential elections in November expired on Sunday, thus 38,944 electors chose to vote at the pooling stations, whereas 41,003 electors chose to vote by mail, according to the www.votstrainatate.ro website, opened by the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP).

The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) has informed that as many as 1,420 Romanian voters have signed up with www.votstrainatate.ro to be able to cast ballots while abroad from the moment of the start of registrations process on July 28, 2019, 12:00hrs.

PM Dancila: Gov't takes into account extending voting for several days, extending vote by mail

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila stated on Thursday that the Government is working on an advanced study, a package of measures regarding the improvement of the electoral process, showing that the Gov't takes into account that the voting be carried out on several days, but also considers the extension of the vote by mail.
