Police investigate homicide, attempted suicide
A 42-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, and there is suspicion that her own father is responsible for the crime. The victim's body was discovered by her brother at her residence in the Sykies district on Tuesday. A forensic examination indicated that she had been suffocated.

Two Scottish soccer fans sentenced by Greek court
Two Scottish supporters of Hearts soccer club were sentenced on Monday to an eight-month jail term. The two Hearts supporters were arrested by Greek police after trying to enter the Toumba stadium in Thessaloniki with flares, where Hearts played against PAOK to qualify for the UEFA Europa League.

Flyers thrown at the German consulate in Thessaloniki
A group of people threw flyers at the German Consulate located on Megalou Alexandrou Avenue in Thessaloniki on Monday afternoon inscribed with messages of support for Turks in prisons in Germany.
They read: "Freedom for the fighters from Turkey who are imprisoned in Germany."
Storms cause power cuts, flooding in northern Greece
Storms that hit areas in western Thessaloniki as well as the city center on Saturday caused power cuts and flooding of houses, Central Macedonia Region director of civil protection Charalambos Stergiadis told state-run news agency AMNA.
Juvenile fugitive picked up in Toumba
A 14-year-old boy who is accused, along with his 12-year-old sister, of robbing and murdering an 87-year-old man last week, was located on Monday in the region of Toumba in Thessaloniki after he went missing from the orphanage he was transferred to by police in the wake of the crime.

Woman detained over girl's disappearance in Thessaloniki
Police on Wednesday detained a woman in connection with the disappearance of a 10-year-old girl in Thessaloniki last week.
The woman is believed to be an acquaintance of the child's family and may in the past have lived in the same neighborhood as her.
Officers found her on the beach of the town of Katerini and led her to Thessaloniki's Security Division.
Drugs detected in body of abducted girl
The blood tests run on a 10-year-old girl who was found in a district of Thessaloniki on Saturday after having gone missing for three days showed traces of psychotropic substances, law enforcement and judicial authorities said on Tuesday.

Vandals damage bank facade in Thessaloniki area
Unidentified vandals early on Monday wreaked damage to the branch of a bank in the outskirts of Thessaloniki, in northern Greece.
The assailants broke the glass facade of the branch and damaged its ATM.
Officers of the northern city's Toumba district were investigating the incident which occurred at 5 a.m.

Soccer fan club raids uncover axes, other weapons
Police in Thessaloniki have raided the fan clubs of two of the northern port city's biggest soccer teams, Aris and PAOK, located in the Toumba and Harilaou districts respectively, seizing a multitude of potential weapons.

Molotov cocktails thrown at Thessaloniki police station
Unknown assailants attacked Toumba police station in Thessaloniki in northern Greece throwing molotov cocktails at the building.
No injuries were reported in the attack which took place at 2 a.m. on Thursday.
Police said they detained five suspects in connection with the attack who were later released.
Investigations are ongoing.
