Russia will save Turkish tourism

The East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition (EMITT) has opened its doors in Istanbul on the same day the Hotel Association of Turkey (TÜROB) announced that hotel occupancy rate in Turkey was the lowest in Europe in 2016, with only 50.8 percent of the total number of rooms being full. EMITT has triumphed as the world's fifth largest fair in the past 21 years.

Bulgaria's National Statistics Clash with Ex-Govt Figures on Foreign Tourists

National statistics have revised downward the former government's figures suggesting more foreign tourists visited Bulgaria in 2016 than the size of its population.

Officials of the previous cabinet earlier said more than 8 million foreign arrivals would be registered between the end of January 2016 and January of this year, in a country of just 7.1 million.

Bulgaria's Tourism Industry 'Grew 11% Last Year'

An increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria has boosted the sector's overall growth in 2016, according to the estimates of a renowned think-tank.

As many as 8.4 million foreign tourists took trips to Bulgaria last year, Rumen Draganov, who heads the Institute for Analysis and Assessment of Tourism, has told Focus News Agency in an interview.
