The Turkish Air Force has increased the number of warplanes patrolling the Turkish-Syrian border after the downing of a Russian jet fighter by a Turkish F-16 on Nov. 24, while Moscow fortified its military presence in Syria with additional missiles.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavu?o?lu will visit northern Cyprus on Nov. 26 in his first abroad trip since resuming his position after a three-month break, the ministry said in a written statement on Nov. 25. 

The visit comes on the eve of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's scheduled trip to the island in a bid to show Washington's support for the ongoing peace talks.  

The second pilot of the Russian Su-24 warplane, which was brought down by Turkey near the Turkish-Syrian border on Tuesday, is safe and sound.

This was announced by Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu on Wednesday, TASS news agency informs.

The pilot was rescued by Russian and Syrian forces and taken to base, in an operation which lasted for twelve hours.

Turkish tourism representatives have voiced concern after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov advised Russians on Nov. 24 not to visit Turkey, after Turkey downed of a Russian plane on the Syrian frontier.
 
Lavrov also said the threat of terrorism in Turkey was no less than in Egypt, where a bomb attack brought down a Russian passenger plane last month.

China called for more coordination in the fight against terrorism on Nov. 25 after Turkey shot down a Russian warplane near the Syrian border, one of the most serious clashes between a NATO member country and Russia for half a century.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says his country's air force did not know that the plane they shot down on Tuesday was Russian when, according to RT.

In addition, Erdogan said that Turkey "does not want escalation with Russia because of the downed plane."

Russian nationals staying in Turkey may be facing serious danger, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said, a day after Turkey downed a Russian Su-24 fighter jet on its border with Syria due to an alleged airspace violation.

Russian Defense Ministry has released its own radar analysis of the Russian jet downed by Turkish warplanes near Syria on Nov. 24, following the Turkish Army's analysis a day earlier. 

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev blamed Turkey for worsening the relations between Russia and NATO.

Medvedev described the Turkish action of taking down the Russian Su-24 warplane near the Turkish-Syrian border on Tuesday as criminal, which will have three consequences.
