A commercial court in Istanbul has fined 11 people a total of some 25.6 billion Turkish Liras for "looting the accounts of ?mar Bank," which had its banking license canceled by Turkey's Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) in 2003.

One soldier was killed on Feb. 24 in the Sur district of southeastern province of Diyarbak?r during clashes with outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants, the Turkish General Staff has announced, in addition to another soldier who has succumbed to his injuries 12 days after an attack in the same district.

Turkish armed forces have carried out military exercise in multiple cities and in Turkish Cyprus, while they joined forces with the police in a counter terrorism exercise held in the eastern province of Van amid ongoing clashes in the country's southeast.

Anka, an unmanned aerial vehicle developed by the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), carried out its debut missionary flight in the eastern province of Elaz?? on Feb. 5. 

Taking off from Elaz?? Airport, Anka ("Phoenix" in English) ascended to an altitude of 19,000 feet to carry out a four-hour exploration and observation flight. 

The U.S. called on Russia to respect Turkey's airspace late on Jan. 30, following Turkish claims that a Russian warplane had crossed its southern border.

The Turkish Constitutional Court has ruled the Turkish Armed Forces violated the right of "respecting private life" in an appeal made to the court by dismissed Air Force Lieutenant Ata Türkeri.

Just a few days following the provocative flight of six Turkish military jets over four Greek islands, Turkey is violating Greek territorial waters yet again. The Turkish hydrographic plane is on a mission between the islands of Lesbos and Chios accompanied by the Turkish corvette ship, Bodrum.

Turkey's Supreme Military Council (YA?) convened on Nov. 26, at the helm of Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu amid the crisis between Moscow and Ankara after the downing of a Russian SU-24 warplane due to an airspace violation on the Syrian frontier. 

Turkey's military invited Russian military attachés to its headquarters on Nov. 25 to explain that Ankara shot down a Russian fighter jet the previous day because its rules of engagement were invoked after the plane failed to respond to warnings, according to army sources.
