Unrest in Kosovo

The families of Serb farmers killed in Kosovo 18 years ago urged Belgrade to sue the NATO peacekeeping force and the UN Mission in Kosovo for not preventing the murders - although experts warned this would be difficult.

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci says the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina "will soon be finished."

And, according to him, this will happen along with "a historic agreement" reached between the two sides.

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - The Srpska electoral list is the only political force of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija that can have the strength to ensure the national rights of Serbs there and, with Belgrade's support, it can prevent decisions detrimental to the province's Serbs, said the participants of the closing Srpska list election rally in Kosovska Mitrovica on Friday.

Police on Thursday said they arrested two Serbs for writing 'Kosovo is the heart of Serbia' on the wall of a school in April - though the suspects were later released.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has told UNMIK chief Zahir Tanin that Serbia is committed to the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija Director Marko Djuric was on Tuesday made unable to attend Victory Day ceremonies in Kosovska Mitrovica.

Tanjug said it learned this from the Serbian Government's Office for Kosovo and Metohija.

"Kosovo is an independent state and has the right to form its own army," Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has told Swiss public broadcaster SRF.

Moreover, Thaci accused Belgrade of being a factor of instability in the region.

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has called "disgusting" what he assessed are "friendly relations of EU officials with Belgrade."

"These friendly relations of EU officials with Belgrade and such statements are very boring, disgusting, and unacceptable to Kosovo, especially because of unjustified delays in the visa liberalization for Kosovo," Thaci said.

Two men wearing balaclavas have attacked a Serb man and his common law wife in Kosovska Mitrovica last night, RTS is reporting.

The man, a 41-year-old whose initials are B.K., suffered injuries to his head and leg. RTS said it learned unofficially that the attackers spoke Albanian as they verbally abused the victims.
