Forgotten Backpack Provoked Quick Action by the Police in Sofia

Police check for a forgotten rucksack in the area of Cherni Vrah Blvd. and Srebarna Street, the Ministry of Interior announced.

The area is cleared and a check is in progress.

Vitosha Metro Station in Sofia's Lozenets district is closed, NOVA informs.

It is not clear when the metro station will be opened again.

Good Conditions for Skiing, Strong Wind High on Vitosha and the Balkan

There are favourable conditions for skiing, the Mountain Rescue Service to the Bulgarian Red Cross told Focus News Agency. The weather is unfavourable for hiking in the high parts of Vitosha and the Balkan Mountain Range due to strong wind. At Botev Peak, the wind is stormy. The lift facilities are open, the ski slopes were prepared.

The Municipal Council will Officially Support Sofia's Bid for the Winter Olympics

With a highly edited statement, the City Council will probably support the efforts of the Sports Ministry to raise Sofia's bid to host the Youth Olympic Games in 2024 and to modernize the sports facilities needed for the forum. At the moment the ministry's efforts to replace the facilities are undergoing a change in the management plan of the Vitosha Park.

Conditions for Hiking in the Bulgarian Mountains are Bad

The conditions for hiking in the mountains are bad, Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) announced to the Bulgarian Red Cross.
 
Ski and hiking conditions are not suitable anywhere because of the bad weather in the high mountains except Pirin. The overgrown belt is foggy, low in temperature and in most places there is a very strong wind.

12% of Bulgarian Citizens Plan to Go on a Mountain Holiday this Winter, Survey

A little over 10% of Bulgarians prefer to go to the mountains for their vacation, reported bTV. 

Over 650,000 Bulgarians or 12% plan to go on a mountain holiday this winter and appreciate the conditions in the Bulgarian resorts as good.

Just 12% are those Bulgarians who say they can practice winter sports.
