Lowest-paid civil servant to receive 22,000 Turkish Liras
The lowest salary of Türkiye's civil servants will be increased to 22,000 Turkish Liras, Labor and Social Security Minister Vedat Işıkhan has said.
The government is currently working on civil servants' pay and improvements in pensions, Işıkhan told reporters.
The salary raise challenge
Setting the minimum salary at 950 euros per month, from €780 today, and the average at €1,500 from €1,176.5 in end-2022 and €1,184 in end-May, is one of the key objectives of New Democracy, which is widely expected to win another four-year term in the elections this Sunday.

Wages rising in Japan but inflation eats away at consumer gains
Wages are rising in Japan more than they have in decades, at least for some workers.
But so are prices, leaving many people feeling they must scrimp more than ever.
In May, the consumer price index was up 3.2 percent from a year earlier, well above the central bank's target of about 2 percent.
Commission discusses minimum wage hike
A special commission tasked to determine an adequate hike in the minimum wage for more than 7 million workers held a second meeting on June 19.
The first meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission took place on June 13.

Talks on minimum wage hike set to start this week
A commission is set to hold its first meeting later this week to discuss a hike in minimum wages for millions of workers.
Representatives from the government, labor union Türk-İş and the Turkish Confederation of Employers' Association (TİSK) will gather on June 13 at the Labor Ministry.

Serbian March average net monthly wage at 85,485 dinars
BELGRADE - The Serbian average net monthly wage in March was 85,485 dinars, according to figures released by the national statistical office RZS.
The average gross wage was 117,669 dinars.
Average gross and net wages in March were up by 14.5 pct y-o-y in nominal terms and down by 1.5 pct y-o-y.
Serbian February average net monthly wage at 81,359 dinars
BELGRADE - The Serbian average net monthly wage in February was 81,359 dinars, while the average gross wage was 112,212 dinars, according to figures released by the national statistical office RZS.
Average gross and net wages in February were up by 15.2 pct y-o-y in nominal terms and down by 0.8 pct y-o-y in real terms compared to last year.
New minimum monthly wage of €780 comes into force
The new minimum wage of €780 a month has come into force as of April 1, after an increase of 9.4% on the previous level.
Accordingly, the minimum daily wage has also gone up, to €34.84, an increase of €5.80 on its February 2019 rate.

Walmart lifts wages at US stores again
Walmart announced on Jan. 24 it will again raise pay for hourly staff, an indication of persistent tightness in the labor market for front-line employees despite layoffs in the tech sector.
The retail giant, the biggest private employer in the United States, is boosting the pay range at U.S. stores to between $14 and $19 an hour from the prior $12 to $18 an hour.
