World’s oldest prophecy center operated till 8th century: Expert
New findings show that the ancient city of Claros, the world's oldest prophecy center located in the eastern province of İzmir, has been actively used more than known, until the end of the 8th century, an adviser for the excavation team has said.
Until today, Claros was known to be "abandoned with the beginning of the rise of Christianity."
Pieces of cult statues removed from Claros
During the ongoing excavation works in Claros, located in İzmir and considered as the oldest oracle center in the world, some pieces of monumental statues of Apollo, Artemis and Leto have come to light.
The pieces have been moved to an area where conservation works will be carried out.

Cult statues under restoration in oldest oracle center
Excavations in Claros, the oldest oracle center in the world according to archaeological data, will continue for 12 months with the support of the Presidency of the Turkish Historical Society.

The Greek islands are the most appealing part of tourists who choose Greece as their destination in the estimation of 70% of Greeks, according to data collected by PayPal and GfK survey group. Greeks believed the Acropolis (60%), Thessaloniki (50%) and the ancient oracle at Delphi (40%) were the most attractive places for foreigners visiting Greece.
Klaros on way to becoming faith tourism center
Findings obtained during archaeological excavations in Klaros, one of the world's oldest oracle centers in the Menderes district of the western Turkish province of İzmir, are contributing to the development of faith tourism.
The head of the Klaros excavations, Professor Nurdan Şahin, said excavations had been continuing with intervals in Klaros since its discovery in 1907.
