Specializing in folk, ballet and contemporary dance, 18 dancers will be performing "The Thread," a production directed and choreographed by Russell Maliphant, at the 4th century BC Ancient Theater of Epidaurus on August 24.

Greek composer Vangelis tops chart of sporting music
Award-winning Greek composer Vangelis has not only found himself in the lofty company of Giacomo Puccini, Gustav Holst and Maurice Ravel, but has also knocked them out of the park after his emblematic theme song "Chariots of Fire" was voted by listeners of the UK's Classic FM as the top selection in the Sporting Music Countdown.

Local act Gravitysays_i - comprising Manos Paterakis (vocals, santur, guitar), Nikos Retsos (drums, synths), Mampre Kasardjian (bass), Nikos Sotiropoulos (guitar), Costas Stergiou (keyboards) and Vangelis Κatsarelis (trumpet) - is making one of its rare live appearances at Six Dogs on Friday, December 22. The conceptual rock-folk band will be playing a career-spanning set, starting at 9 p.m.

New Greek cabinet announced (video)
The new Greek government was announced by spokesperson Olga Gerovasili, Friday at 10pm. Minister of Education Nikos Filis was left out of the new government, paying the price for his open disagreement with the head the Greek Orthodox Church, Archbishop of Athens Ieronymos.

Greek singer Demis Roussos dies at 68
Greek singer Demis Roussos, best known for operatic pop ballads in the 1970s and 1980s, died in Athens at the weekend aged 68.
The entertainer had been admitted to the Igia clinic some time ago with an undisclosed illness and the medical facility issued only a brief statement on Monday announcing his death.

Greek Singer Demis Roussos Dies
Famous Greek pop and rock singer Demis Roussos has died in an Athens hospital.
Artemios "Demis" Ventouris Roussos was born on 15 June, 1946 to a Greek father and an Egyptian mother of Italian origin. He was raised in Alexandria, Egypt. His parents decided to move to Greece after they lost all of their possessions in the Suez Crisis.
