PAOK is alone in second in the Super League after salvaging a draw at Apollon Smyrnis on Thursday, despite having led 3-0 after the first 37 minutes.

The Thessaloniki giant advanced through two goals by Lucas Perez, with Giorgos Katsikas adding a third, before Antonis Petropoulos and Giorgos Delizisis made it 3-2 by half-time.

Then Petropoulos made it 3-3 four minutes from the end, although for Apollon this was two points dropped instead of one earned given that it is now deep in trouble at the drop zone.

PAOK is now one point ahead of Atromitos and Panathinaikos, who face each other at Peristeri on Saturday.

In Thursday’s other game, PAS Giannina drew 1-1 with Panthrakikos in a match interrupted for five minutes due to a hailstorm at Ioannina.

Meanwhile relegated Aris has accepted the resignation of its coach, Soulis Papadopoulos.
