The Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT) did not make any decision at its meeting on Tuesday regarding the country's participation in the coalition against the Islamic State group, but Romania will have to fulfill its obligations undertook before the international partners, Prime Minister Victor Ponta said.

'There isn't any decision, but this is my opinion and (...) I believe it is in Romania's best interest to prove we are a serious country and a country that fulfills its partnership obligations both when it is in our interest and when it is in someone else's interest,' the Prime Minister said on Digi-TV private television broadcaster.

In his opinion, Romania will not get involved military in the actions of the international coalition, but it could provide logistic and humanitarian support.

'I believe that, before anything else, Romania must send a very clear signal of solidarity to our international partners. To say yes, we are part of this alliance of the civilised world, in the end. The way we are part of this, certainly, the question has never been raised and we haven't been asked to send troops or aircraft, as we don't really have any, until the F16 aircraft bought last year are delivered. But there are other forms of humanitarian support, of logistic support that we can provide,' Victor Ponta pointed out. AGERPRES
