Industry turnover up 8 pct, new orders up 6.1 pct in 11 months (2014 statistics)

The turnover in industry was up 8 percent in the first 11 months of 2014 as compared to Jan.-Nov. of the prior year, show the provisional figures released by the National Institute for Statistics on Tuesday

"The turnover in industry went up 8 percent overall during Jan. 1 ? Nov. 30, 2014 as compared to Jan. 1 ? Nov. 30, 2013 as a result of the growth in the processing industry (+8.1 pct) and the mining industry (+5 pct). By major industrial groups, increases in turnover were recorded in all sectors: the energy industry (+16.3 pct), the consumer durables industry (+12.8 pct), the capital goods industry (+8.6 pct), the intermediate goods industry (+7.6 pct) the consumer goods industry (+3.9 pct)", the Institute said in a release.

The turnover in Nov. 2014 as compared to the previous month dropped by 5.9 percent overall as a result of the shrunk processing industry (-6 pct) and mining industry (-3.2 pct).

By major industrial groups, drops were recorded in the capital goods industry (-7.7 pct), the intermediate goods industry (-7.2 pct), the consumer goods industry (-5.8 pct) and the consumer durables industry (-3.6 pct). Increases were posted by the energy industry at 5.1 percent.

The turnover in Nov. 2014 as compared to Nov. 2013 grew 2.4 percent overall thanks to the increases in the processing industry (+2.9 pct). The mining industry dropped 9.2 percent.

According to the Institute, by major industrial groups increases in turnover were recorded in the consumer durables industry (+10.8 pct), the capital goods industry (+6.5 pct) and the intermediate goods industry (+2.2 pct).
