Zoe Konstantopoulou’s plans for 2016: a new movement is on its way

The former Greek speaker of the house Zoe Konstantopoulou was known for her intellect and wit, but it was her stubborness that led to her downfall. Down and out but not forgotten, the member of the Popular Unity party that split from the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) ruling party following the party’s liberal U-turn when it failed to make good on its pledges regarding the end of austerity in Greece.

A member of the Popular Unity party she will stay, but apart from her political activities she plans to head a movement with other like-minded individuals that were with her following her departure from SYRIZA. Speculation is rife regarding Konstantopoulou’s new venture with sources pointing to close colleagues that were with her since her departure from SYRIZA, such as Rachel Makri, Kostas Zaharia, Aglaia Kyritsi, Yiannis Spathas and Thanasis Skoumas.
