Turkey tightens measures with weekend lockdowns, weekday curfews

Turkey has further toughened COVID-19 measures with full weekend lockdowns and weeknight curfews as the number of coronavirus cases continues to increase across the country.

"A general curfew will be applied every weeknight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.," President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced following a cabinet meeting in the capital Ankara on Nov. 30.

Turkey announces weekday, weekend lockdown against coronavirus

Turkey will impose curfews on weekdays and full lockdowns over weekends to combat the spread of the coronavirus, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Nov. 30.

Citizens will not be allowed to leave home between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on weekdays, and over the whole weekend from 9 p.m. on Fridays to 5 a.m. on Mondays, Erdoğan said.

Church leader leaves hospital, calls for ‘discipline’ with health rules

Archbishop Ieronymos was released from Athens' Evangelismos Hospital, where he has been undergoing treatment for Covid-19.

The 82-year-old church leader was admitted to hospital on November 19, a few days after testing positive for the novel coronavirus and coming down with a fever.

MAE: Minister Aurescu convenes task force in case of Romanian sailor kidnapped in Togo

The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) informs on Monday that Minister Bogdan Aurescu has convened, on an emergency regime, the interinstitutional task force on the incident occurred on November 29, this year, in the area of the Port of Lome, the Republic of Togo, involving the Agisilaos ship and which is said to have resulted in the kidnapping of several navigators, including a Romanian citizen.
