A Russian battleship passed through the Dardanelles en route to the Mediterranean, minutes after Turkish F-16s shot down a Russian fighter jet due to an airspace violation. 

As Turkey celebrates Teachers' Day on Nov. 24, uncertainty over a proposed paid apprenticeship and "Teachers Academy" has set tongues wagging among the country's almost 900,000 educators.

Turkish warplanes struck outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) targets and killed five militants as part of an air and ground offensive against the PKK in southeast Turkey, the Turkish military said on Nov. 24.

The nationality of a warplane downed by Turkish fighter jets early Nov. 24 has not yet been determined, Turkey's General Staff has said, even as the Russian Defense Ministry said one of its fighter jets was downed in Syria, apparently after coming under fire from the ground, Interfax news agency reported. 

Police have staged a controlled demolition of a would-be car bomb attack in Turkey's southern Adana province as unidentified militants parked the bomb-laden vehicle in front of a police station and opened fire at officers.

At least five migrants stuck on the Greek-Macedonian border on Monday sewed their lips in protest at not being allowed to continue their journey to Europe, AFP reporters said.

The vice chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Paul J. Selva will hold talks with his Turkish counterpart during his visit to Turkey on Nov. 24-25, sources have told the Hürriyet Daily News. 

The Supreme Military Council (YA?) will convene on Nov. 26, chaired by Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu. 

Members of the council including Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar, the defense minister, force commanders, army commanders, the gendarmerie forces commander, navy commanders, and four star generals, will participate at the top defense meeting, which is held twice a year.

Sirha Istanbul, the benchmark event for hospitality and food service professionals, will take place at the Istanbul Congress Center on Nov. 26-28, 2015. 

Spor Toto Super League club Galatasaray announced Nov. 23 that it has agreed on a contract with Mustafa Denizli to become the Istanbul side's next coach. The deal will reportedly expire at the end of next season.
