The fifth edition of the 2017 Global Terrorism Index has recorded a total of 25,673 deaths due to terrorism around the world last year. As grim as that figure is, it represents a 13 percent decrease in deaths between 2015 and 2016.

Between 2002 and the end of 2016, eight of the world's nine regions experienced an increase in terrorist activity, according to the 2017 Global Terrorism Index report produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace.
North America was the only region to see a decline.
Anadolu Agency: Suicide Bomb Hits Foreign Troop Convoy in Afghanistan
A suicide car bomber struck a convoy of foreign troops in southern Kandahar province on Monday, a provincial official confirmed, adding that several casualties were feared in the attack, Anadolu Agency reported.
