Editors of travel guide Lonely Planet are predicting that Greece will be the top travel destination in Europe this year, as the country shows strong signs of bouncing back from a turbulent few years marked by political instability and anti-austerity protests.
Albania Uneasy Over Czech Stance to EU Bid
Reports by a Prague-based new agency, CeskeNoviny, on Monday - that the Czech Republic might block Albania’s bid to obtain EU candidate status this summer - have caused concern in Tirana.
The alleged cause of the potential blockade is the ongoing dispute between Albania and the Czech power company, CEZ.

Arsovic wins bronze at World Cup in Munich
MUNICH - Andrea Arsovic, a member of the Serbian national sport shooting team, won the bronze medal in the women's 10 m air rifle event at the World Cup in Munich on Sunday.
Arsovic won the third place with 184.6 points, and Singapore's Martina Lindsay Veloso and Katerina Emmons of the Czech Republic claimed the first and third places, respectively.

Romania's Ioana Ducu, Ioana Loredana Rosca win Roland Garros Girls' Doubles title
The Romanian pair made up of Ioana Ducu and Ioana Loredana Rosca on Saturday won the girls' doubles event of the Roland Garros tournament, after defeating the pair Catherine Cartan Bellis (US) /Marketa Vondrousova (the Czech Republic) 6-1, 5-7, 11-9 in the final.
Jorovic reaches final at Junior French Open
PARIS - Serbian tennis player Ivana Jorovic managed to get into the final at the Junior French Open, after defeating Francoise Abanda of Canada 6-4, 6-0 in the semi-final on Friday.
In order to claim the title, Jorovic will have to beat the winner of the other semi-final match between Russia's Darya Kasatkina and Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic.

Romania, Bulgaria Not Ready to Adopt Euro
A European Commission report on euro-area convergence released on Wednesday says that of eight EU member states, only Lithuania meets all the criteria for joining the euro.
Romania and Bulgaria are among the countries that are not ready yet to switch to the single currency, according to the report.

The Pescanik.net website said on Monday that it had been brought down by a Denial of Service (DOS) attack a day earlier, directly after publishing allegations that that Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic had plagiarised parts of his PhD thesis.

European Rowing Championship closes at Ada Ciganlija
BELGRADE - The final race of men's eight that ended in Germany's victory ahead of Russia and the UK marked the end of the European Rowing Championship in Belgrade, which had lasted three days.
The championship was held at Ada Ciganlija and included 36 countries, which was the biggest number yet, but the competition also proved to be of the best quality so far.
Ivanovic loses to Safarova
PARIS - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic on Saturday failed to reach the fourth round of the Roland Garros tennis tournament by losing to Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-3.
Ivanovic was no match for in-form Safarova, who dominated both sets with power and accuracy.

Ivanovic eases past Svitolina
PARIS - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic reached the third round of the Roland Garros Grand Slam tennis tournament on Thursday by beating Elina Svitolina of Ukraine 7-5, 6-2.
Ivanovic eased past her second opponent in Paris with a good performance that suggested that she might go far at the tournament.
