Serbia Battles to Control Extent of Flood Disaster

Thousands of rescuers in boats and police and army in helicopters are trying to prevent further damage in the town of Obrenovac, south of Belgrade, after the Kolubara river burst its banks and flooded 90 per cent of the town.

The Interior Ministry said more than 4,000 people had been evacuated already from Obrenovac, and more requests for evacuation are coming.

Zimonjic and Nestor go through to doubles semifinals

ROME - Serbia's Nenad Zimonjic and Canada's Daniel Nestor beat David Marrero and Fernando Verdasco of Spain 4-6 6-3 10-7 in Rome on Thursday and qualified for the semifinals of the Italian Open.

Their next opponents will be the winners of the match between Bob and Mike Bryan of the US on one side and Tommy Haas from Germany and Rade Stepanek from the Czech Republic on the other.

BELGRADE - The marking of the Day of victory over Nazism in World War II started late Thursday with a ceremonial artillery salute fired from the Sava terrace of the Belgrade Fortress, the Serbian government said in a statement.

Bulgaria's Dimitrov Wins ATP World Tour 250 in Bucharest

Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov has won the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Bucharest by beating the Czech Republic's Lucas Rosol  by 7:6 (2), 6:1.

On Sunday Dimitrov scored his third ATP World Tour title after the one in Stockholm in October 2013 and the one in Acapulco in February 2014, according to reports of Sega daily.
