Romanians Abroad Send More Cash Home

Remittances again registered an increase in 2013, with Romanians sending home 4.2 billion euro last year, according to data from the National Bank.

The rise is believed to signify that many Romanian emigrants to countries like Italy and Germany have again started to find stable employment after the worst of the financial crisis.

Albanian arrested in heroin smuggling case

An Albanian national became the 12th person to be arrested over a ton of heroin seized in Attica last Thursday after surrendering to authorities over the weekend.

The other suspects, six Greeks and five Turks, are set to give their depositions on Tuesday and Wednesday. All face charges of drug smuggling, forming a criminal organization and breaking firearms laws.
