Germany wants to extend Greece’s primary surplus target for another 10 years

According to Deutsche Welle, the German daily Süddeutsche Zeitung has described the heated debate between the Eurozone finance ministers over the austerity measures that will have to be imposed on Greece, saying that Berlin is pressing for a ten-year extension of the 3,5% primary surplus target that was originally set for 2018.

Turkey’s bellicose stance towards Greece on the status quo of islands in the Aegean Sea is not something that has emerged out of the blue. The adoption of of a well planned policy that disputes the sovereignty of Greece over a series of islands and island rocks in the Aegean Sea began after the two countries came close to a military conflict in 1996 over the rock island of Imia.

Germany 'concerned' by Matteo Renzi downfall, Steinmeier says

Germany is "concerned" by the government crisis in Italy sparked by the resignation of Prime Minister Matteo Renzi following his referendum defeat, Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said on Monday.

"We are watching the result in Italy with concern," Steinmeier, who is visiting Greece, told Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in televised remarks.
