PM calls for more Japanese companies to invest in Turkey's mega projects

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu said he will discuss infrastructure development with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who will visit Turkey for the upcoming Group of 20 summit.

"I want to see more Japanese investments in megaprojects, like a third nuclear power plant," Davuto?lu said on Nov. 12.

G-20 governments are handing out approximately $452 billion a year to prop up the production of fossil fuels - despite pledges to phase out subsidies and prevent catastrophic climate change.

Japan's six-month current account surplus quadruples

Japan said Nov. 10 its current account surplus more than quadrupled in the six months to September thanks to an improving trade picture and buoyant returns on the country's investments abroad.

The 8.7 trillion yen ($70.7 billion) figure for April-September - the first half of the fiscal year - was well up from the 2.0 trillion yen a year earlier, according to official data.
