Over 2,200 looted artefacts, many from ancient Egypt, were seized as part of a Europe-wide crackdown that also snared 35 suspected traffickers, Europol announced Jan. 29.        

 The F-16 fighter jet that crashed during a NATO exercise in Spain on Monday, killing 11, experienced a technical failure during takeoff and the two pilots tried to eject, the French air force said on Jan. 29.

MELBOURNE - World's best tennis player Novak Djokovic qualified for the Australian Open semifinal as he defeated Canada's Milos Raonic in the Wednesday match, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 6-2.

Djokovic managed to preserve the maximum advantage over Raonic and achieved the fifth triumph in their duels so far after two hours into the match.

The Greek armed forces will observe three days of mourning following the death on Monday of two Hellenic Air Force pilots whose F-16 fighter jet crashed during NATO-led exercises in southeastern Spain, killing another eight personnel and injuring at least 13.
