German Govt Endorses Military Mission to Back Anti-IS Fight in Syria

Germany's government on Tuesday approved plans to provide military support to the international operation against the Islamic State (IS) group in Syria, DPA reported.

Chancellor Angela Merkel's coalition government is planning to deploy Tornado reconnaissance jets, a refuelling tanker aircraft, a frigate as well as sending 1,200 German troops as part of the mission.

Stanishev is going to London as part of a PES delegation for Labour's Annual Conference taking place between September 27 and 30, Bulgarian newspapers report, citing the PES press office.

Her party, according to preliminary results for the British general election, won almost all seats in Scotland.

British Parliament Dissolved as Election Campaign Begins

British Parliament was formally dissolved on Monday as the campaign for the forthcoming general election in the UK was officially unveiled.

British Prime Minister David Cameron held an audience with Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, after which he announced that the general election will take place on May 7.
