Britain joined the U.S.-led air strikes against the Islamic State (IS) group in Syria on Thursday after the British Parliament gave the green light to extending the fight against the jihadist militants.   

Germany's government on Tuesday approved plans to provide military support to the international operation against the Islamic State (IS) group in Syria, DPA reported.

Chancellor Angela Merkel's coalition government is planning to deploy Tornado reconnaissance jets, a refuelling tanker aircraft, a frigate as well as sending 1,200 German troops as part of the mission.

French President Francois Hollande is actively seeking support from both his Euro-Atlantic allies and Russia in the fight against Islamic State (IS) in response to the deadly attacks in Paris on November 13 which claimed the lives of at least 130 people and left hundreds injured.

Stanishev is going to London as part of a PES delegation for Labour's Annual Conference taking place between September 27 and 30, Bulgarian newspapers report, citing the PES press office.  

Scottish party has "historic success" in British election

LONDON -- Scottish National Party (SNP) leader Nicola Sturgeon has said that voters in Scotland lost trust in the Labor Party, and "want to an end to austerity."

Her party, according to preliminary results for the British general election, won almost all seats in Scotland.

British Parliament was formally dissolved on Monday as the campaign for the forthcoming general election in the UK was officially unveiled.

British Prime Minister David Cameron held an audience with Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, after which he announced that the general election will take place on May 7.
