Most Private Sector Workers in Serbia Paid Late

A new study by the Association of Free and Independent Trade Unions shows only 15 per cent of private companies in Serbia are paying worker's salaries on time.

About 600,000 workers from the private sector receive their pay a month or two late, or more, while around 50,000 employees in companies are not receiving a salary at all.

This is the first study of this type in Serbia.

Vulin: Government aims to further reduce unemployment rate

BELGRADE - Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy Aleksandar Vulin said on Monday that last year saw a drop in Serbia's unemployment rate from 23 to 17.6 percent, and the government will strive to keep it at the same level and reduce it, if possible, primarily through youth employment schemes.

Program on surplus employees enters into force

BELGRADE - This year's Serbian government program to deal with the issue of surplus employees in the enterprises that should be privatized in processes led by the Privatization Agency, including 188 of them that will file for bankruptcy, has entered into force, the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia has said.

Unemployment rate in Serbia at 17.6 percent

KRALJEVO - National Employment Service (NSZ) Director Zoran Martinovic presented in Kraljevo on Thursday the implementation of active employment policy measures and current trends on the Serbian labour market.

The latest survey, which covered the third quarter, shows that the unemployment rate has dropped to below 20 percent, which was the government's goal, Martinovic said.
