Victim rushed to Nicosia General Hospital in critical condition

More than two dozen migrants were injured during a large brawl between nationals from Syria and several African countries at an overcrowded migrant reception camp outside of Cyprus' capital Nicosia, an official said Tuesday.

Cyprus is the first country in the eurozone to announce that it plans to make use of the cheap, long-term credit lines that will be made available by the Pandemic Crisis Support fund of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM).

The coronavirus death toll rose to 10 in the Republic on Thursday after a woman, 77, who was being treated in the Limassol General Hospital ICU succumbed to the infection, while 36 new cases were confirmed.

The woman had underlying health conditions, as did eight of the 10 total deaths recorded so far.

Four new cases of coronavirus were confirmed on Wednesday, raising the figure to seven across the divide.

According to media reports, divers located the third suitcase at the bottom of the Red Lake, in rural Nicosia, with officials speculating it may contain the remains of 30-year-old Maricar Valdez Arquiola.

Cyprus' health ministry says the country's former president Dimitris Christofias is in a critical condition in hospital with respiratory problems.
In a statement Monday, the ministry said Christofias was admitted to Nicosia General Hospital's transplantation unit on Saturday.
