CHP: Long recovery ahead for Diyarbak?r's devastated Sur district

CHP proposes increased penalties in sexual assault cases

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Aytu? At?c? has submitted a law proposal to parliament demanding an increase in the penalties for convicts who commit crimes against women.

The law proposal, dubbed the "Özgecan Law" after murdered 19-year-old university student Özgecan Aslan, called on parliament to increase the penalties in sexual assault cases.

CHP slams Erdo?an over 'shift' in migrant policy

Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal K?l?çdaro?lu has criticized Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an over what he suggested was a U-turn in remarks uttered by the latter on the country's policy toward Syrian migrants in Turkey.

"How come one make a U-turn in a short while," he said, slamming a remark by Erdo?an that suggested bussing Syrians in Turkey to Syria.
