A former opposition lawmaker has been sentenced to almost two years in prison for allegedly insulting Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu, although the court subsequently suspended the sentence.

The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) has said it expected Turkey would implement its declared rules of engagement in the event of an airspace violation, in response to a Russian warplane which reportedly entered Turkish airspace on Jan. 29, rekindling tension between Ankara and Moscow.   

The People's Party for Freedom and Dignity (NPSD), which is part of the Refomist Bloc (RB) coalition, might quit the bloc because of discontent with coalition partners, media reports suggest.

An indictment has been prepared against television channel Kanal D on the grounds that it insulted the president by showing a banner that appeared during a Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) election during one of its morning programs.

Turkey's main opposition leader has suggested that the entire country has been degenerating, while indicating that both President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an and the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) have been responsible for the country's moral lapse.

An investigation was launched on Jan. 25 into CNN Türk on claims that the private broadcaster "insulted" President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an during a news report on a recent lawsuit opened by Erdo?an against Turkey's main opposition leader.
