UN Security Council discusses report on Kosovo

BELGRADE - The UN Security Council will hold a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the latest report by Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on the situation in Kosovo, and Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic will also speak at the meeting.

Nikolic will meet with Ban during his visit to New York, the presidential press service has stated.

UN Puts Death Toll of Ukraine's Latest Unrest at 127

A total of 127 people have died in Ukraine's east and south as a result of violence over the past weeks, a United Nations official reported Wednesday.

"More arms, and more arms" are being used in the standoff, as Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights Ivan Simonovic was quoted by the Washington Post as telling the UN Security Council.

Russia could "remember" permission to use force

MOSCOW, KIEV -- In case the situation in Ukraine’s southeast deteriorates, Russia "will remember the permission to use armed forces in Ukraine given by the Federation Council."

This was stated on Friday by Russia’s UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin, who emphasized that his country was not seeking that scenario.
