When the wheel of post-election roulette stopped spinning instead of a fragmented and impossible-to-assemble cabinet, the second week after the vote strted with a dangerously clean horizon. For the first time in the new history of our National Assembly, a possible government can be supported by absolutely all parliamentary groups.

As a result of renegotiation, Bulgaria expects to receive 2.7 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19 in April and May, or by the middle of June at the latest, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on Sunday while inspecting the construction of a sport hall in the southern village of Topolovo, accompanied by Youth and Sports Minister Krassen Kralev and Health Minister Kostadin Angelov

The Central Election Commission on April 8 removed six people from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms and two from the GERB-​​UDF coalition from the list of elected MPs upon receipt of their requests.

From GERB these are Boyko Borissov and Pavlin Ganchev.

The Chairman of GERB and Prime Minister Boyko Borisov gave up his seat as Member of the National Assembly.

Surprise

Bulgaria's April 4 Parliamentary election was always going to produce an interesting result, given the strong polling of several populist or anti-corruption groupings taking part. Yet the final outcome was a surprise to most observers and many of the participants.

Boyko Borissov insists on convening the Grand National Assembly to remain prime minister for life, wrote leader of "Stand up.bg" Maya Manolova on Facebook commenting on the today's proposal of the Prime Minister to convene the Grand National Assembly.

In her words, it's the second time that Borissov uses the Constitution as a means for him to stay in power.

"My fellow politician Slavi Trifonov should not defect, but come to the fore and assume responsibility. He should not bug out, nor complain that they do not have people, but to form their own majority, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov urged.

For the sake of stability, we are ready to single out 10-20 MPs to support a prospective government, said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov during a meeting with members of his cabinet. He commented on the election results and his future outlook for the country. 

We will most likely have an expert minority government, nominated by the three new parties and at least moderately supported by the status quo parties, and in case of elections in three months the new ones in parliament will have a majority - they are yet to gain strength, told Dir.bg political scientist Evgeny Dainov.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's centre-right party came first in the weekend's parliamentary elections, partial results showed Monday (5 April), but with protest parties surging it has no clear partner to form a governing coalition.

Borissov's GERB party, undermined by scandals and protests after nearly a decade in power, won just 26% of Sunday's vote.
