Germany "shows understanding" for position on Ukraine

BERLIN -- Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić says he found a high level of understanding in Germany for the Serbian position on "the situation in Ukraine and Russia."

BERLIN -- Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić launched his two-day visit to Germany by attending a working lunch with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Ivo Viskovic, a former Serbian ambassador to Germany, says Vucic's meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday will focus on Serbia's EU integration process.

According to him, Serbia can expect German help on its path to EU membership. "This help would be mainly of an advisory and economic character through stimulating German investment in Serbia," Viskovic told BIRN.

BERLIN - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will go on a two-day official visit to Germany on Wednesday upon invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

According to announcements from Berlin, Vucic's meeting with the German chancellor will be followed by a meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

“There is no doubt that many populist, Euroskeptic and even nationalistic parties are entering the European Parliament,” said German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier after all the votes in last Sunday’s, May 25, election for the European Union’s Parliament had been counted.

Germany to give Bosnia EUR 6mn for loans, mine clearance

The sanctions are targeting figures that are seen as having a key role in the March 16 referendum in which Crimea's population has voted in favour of seceding from Ukraine and joining Russia.
