Vucic to meet Merkel in Berlin on Wednesday

BERLIN - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will go on a two-day official visit to Germany on Wednesday upon invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

According to announcements from Berlin, Vucic's meeting with the German chancellor will be followed by a meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

On the second day of the visit, Vucic will confer with members of the German business community.

Chancellor Merkel said ahead of the visit that she is looking forward to Vucic's arrival in Berlin, and announced that they will discuss Serbia's further pathway, while the prime minister stressed that Serbia wants to be a reliable ally and partner of Germany's.

Vucic also said that he will thank Merkel for the substantial aid and support Germany has provided to Serbia in the wake of the catastrophic floods in the country, and ask for further assistance.

"We will appeal to our German friends to help us with the development plan in the flood-hit municipalities. We can analyze the needs and address most of them, boosting economic activity in the flood-affected region at the same time, and that is where we need Germany," stressed Vucic.
