Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) chair Devlet Bahçeli has criticized Garo Paylan, a lawmaker from the ranks of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), for submitting a bill to the Turkish parliament for the recognition of the 1915 events as genocide.

The country's top court conducted its first examination on Monday and unanimously agreed to accept the chief prosecutor's indictment and officially start the closure case.

A suspect was detained in connection with the Armenian church attack in metropolis Istanbul, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office said on May 28.

Security footage delivered to the police showed the attack occurred on May 23 in the Üsküdar district, according to a statement made by the Surp Krikor Lusaroviç Armenian Church.

Experts warn that the planned measures would have serious consequences for tech companies' activities, and may result in some leaving the country.

The draft law on social media has been sent to the business world and unions for consultation, but the opposition is sure it will come back to parliament soon.

A deputy from the People's Democratic Party (HDP) on Feb. 25 called for peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
