High political ambitions were stated before the early elections. On the penultimate day of registration in the Central Election Committee, the parties submitted requests for a majority in the format of a triple coalition. Proposals for solving the crises in the country were also heard.

The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) refused to prematurely terminate the mandate of the Prosecutor General. Only two of the members of the Supreme Court - Atanaska Disheva and Olga Kerelska - were "in favor" of the removal of Ivan Geshev, all the other 16 voted "against" and so he remains in his post. The Prosecutor General did not participate in the vote.

Judicial reform, a topic created by the ruling coalition half a year ago, is likely to be the biggest victim of its collapse. It (despite public arguments) is one of the reasons for the most serious shock in power.

The Bulgarian Constitutional Court's decision to allow the justice minister to request the dismissal of Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev came into force on Tuesday - a step forward for the government's aim of removing the man it sees as an obstacle to the reform of the justice system and the implementation of anti-corruption measures.

Bulgaria is waiting to officially find out the names of the candidate ministers in the draft cabinet. So far, it is clear that Kiril Petkov will be nominated for prime minister, and that there will be four deputy prime ministers in the future cabinet.

Bulgaria's Justice Minister Hristo Ivanov and Thorbjørn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE), have discussed Bulgaria's judicial reform strategy and the independence of the judiciary in the country.

Ivanov is on a two-day working visit to Strasbourg on March 16-17.
