Greek defence ministry οn alert with three lines of defence against Turkey

With the Turkish drill ship "FATIH" having entered Cyprus' Exclusive Economic Zone one week ago and with Ankara having tied up an enormous  area around the Greek island of Kastellorizo for protracted military manoeuvres, Athens and Nicosia are in complete coordination in pursuing a major diplomatic push to force Ankara to back down from its expansionist stance.

President of Cyprus, Akinci agree on confidence-building measures

The President of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiades, and Turkish-Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci agreed at a meeting today to implement confidence-building measures (CBMs) mainly in the sectors of telephony and electricity grids.

The move comes a year-and-a-half after the collapse of Cyprus settlement talks at Crans Montana, Switzerland with a new push to jump-start the talks underway.

Tilting for futile talks

What has changed since the inconclusive termination of the Cyprus talks at Crans-Montana? Nothing. Is there hope for the success of a new round of Cyprus talks should the sides decide to rehash the process?

 No way. Why then, has everyone started talking about the need to resume talks? Don't they have anything else to keep themselves busy?
