Kosovo's Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Svecla, announced at a  press conference on Friday with Kosovo Police director Samedin Mehmeti that there have been four attacks on police officers in the last three days near the border with Serbia.

The authorities deployed special police units on Monday morning in Serb-majority northern Kosovo after hundreds of Serbs blocked roads near the Jarinje border crossing point and in the municipality of Zubin Potok in protest at the government's decision to make them use Kosovo vehicle licence plates instead of Serbian ones.

Refugees fleeing the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan were flown in to Pristina airport on Sunday evening, where they received medical check-ups before being sent onwards to the town of Ferizaj/ Urosevac.

Despite the potential security threat posed by their return, which all three countries say they are taking seriously, experts warn that these people cannot be reintegrated only by the political centre; the local communities where they live must play an even greater role.

Agon Musliu, from Gjilan/ Gnilanje, was put in 14-day quarantine after returning from Germany from his graduate studies.

The parliamentary commission probing the highly controversial deportation of the six alleged Gulenists to Turkey in March last year said on Tuesday that it is sending a file to the prosecutor's office in Pristina detailing 31 breaches of laws and procedures.
