Turkish security forces have killed three militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in clashes in the eastern province of Tunceli, security sources stated on Feb. 16.      

Turkey's population saw an increase of over one million compared to last year, reaching 79,814,871 people, the Turkish Statistics Institute announced on Jan. 31.

According to 2016 results from the records of Address Based Population Registration System, males made up 50.2 percent of the total population and females made up 49.8 percent.

Sixteen militants from the outlawed Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) have been "neutralized" in anti-terror operations in the eastern province of Tunceli since April 2016, according to the military.

One soldier was killed on Dec. 28 during clashes with outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the eastern province of Tunceli, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Soldiers engaged in an armed conflict with the militants while conducting searches in rural areas of the province.

Five companies will compete in Turkey's first Turkish lira-based natural gas tender, according to officials from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK). 

Nineteen outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants were "neutralized" in aerial and land operations carried out by the Turkish military in the provinces of Tunceli, Şırnak, Diyarbakır and Mardin, as the army prepared to "inflict a major blow" against the group this winter, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has said. 

Two soldiers have been killed in clashes with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the eastern province of Tunceli. 

Clashes erupted in the Aliboğazı region, resulting in injuries to two soldiers. The wounded soldiers were taken to the neighboring province of Elazığ for treatment, where both succumbed to their injuries. 

A bustard, the world's heaviest bird species that can fly, which is rarely seen in Turkey, has been found wounded in the eastern province of Tunceli. The bird had a broken leg and was taken into treatment at the Elazığ Veterinary Faculty.

Turkish police detained one of the co-mayors of the eastern province of Siirt, as well as the co-mayors of Tunceli province early on Nov. 16 as part of a terrorism-linked probe. 

One village guard was killed during clashes between security forces and outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants on Nov. 11 in the Genç district of the eastern Turkish province of Bingöl. 

The 28-year-old Mehmet Koçdağ succumbed to his injuries at the Genç Public Hospital after being wounded in clashes with PKK militants.
