Algerian Citizen Raped and Robbed a Girl in the Borisova Garden in Sofia

Algerian raped and robbed a 23-year-old girl in Sofia's largest park Borisova garden. The offense was committed on June 26, with the foreigner threatening his victim with broken glass from a bottle, informs NOVA.

An hour before the young woman was attacked, the Algerian tried to jump over another girl. The abuser is detained for 24 hours. It is expected that he will be charged.

Chios court convicts 70-year-old to 20 years over child rape

A 70-year-old man was sentenced on Thursday to 20 years in prison by a court on the eastern Aegean island of Chios after his conviction for the repeated rape of three children who had stayed at his house.

The man was a sports official on the nearby island of Lesvos and, as he himself claimed, trained "hundreds of children" during his career.

Death toll from Attica fires rises to 100 after burns victim, 73, passes away

The death toll from the disastrous July 23 fires in eastern Attica rose to 100 on Saturday after a 73-year-old burns victim passed away on Saturday.

The man had been in the intensive care unit of the capital's Evangelismos Hospital being treated for burns sustained in the blaze at Mati, the coastal settlement that was the worst hit by the blazes. 

West Nile virus linked to 34 deaths in Greece this year

Three more people have died as a result of complications after contracting the West Nile virus, bringing the death toll across Greece from the beginning of the year so far to 34, according to authorities.

According to the weekly epidemiological surveillance report of the Hellenic Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO), reported cases have reached 289 this year.
