The Bulgarian National Bank has reported that at the end of June 2017 currency in circulation on the domestic market reached BGN 14. 214 billion (EUR 7.3 billion), quoted by Investor.bg

Compared to the end of June 2016, a rise of 12.3% has been marked.

Kosovo: Police Seize Huge Haul Of Counterfeit Euros

Kosovar police say they have arrested two men after discovering counterfeit currency valued at more than 2 million euros in the trunk of a car crossing into the Balkan nation from Albania.

The counterfeit bills with a face value of 2.1 million euros ($2.2 million) were found early on March 10 in a bag in the trunk of the car driven by an Albanian citizen, a police statement said.

The fear of a $1 bill

The $1 bill paranoia is quite widespread in Turkey. Seeing that it creates trouble, people now scan their leftover banknotes from trips for $1 bills. Not everybody is a master in tampering with criminal evidence, thus this simple destruction procedure becomes quite an adventure. 

ECB to Stop Producing EUR 500 Note

The European Central Bank (ECB) has decided to stop production and issuance of the EUR 500 banknote.

The ECB has also decided to exclude the largest note denomination from the Europa series, "taking into account concerns that this banknote could facilitate illicit activities", the Bank said in a statement on Wednesday.
