Run With Your Dog | Athens | October 1
The Greek Animal Welfare Society is holding its fourth annual Run With Your Dog event on Sunday, October 1, at the National Bank Woods (Alsos Ethnikis Trapezas - formerly Pikionis Park) in the northern suburb of Filothei. In addition to encouraging people to spend some quality time with their pets, the event is also aimed at raising awareness about the society's activities.

Objective values to be amended in 4 areas following top court decision
The Finance Ministry is expected by the end of the year to amend the so-called objective values used for tax purposes in four parts of the country: the Athens suburbs of Filothei and Psychico, Neos Voutzas in northeastern Attica and Delphi.
Top court rules ENFIA illegal in four areas
The Council of State, Greece's highest administrative court, has ruled that the ENFIA property tax had been miscalculated in four areas, and was therefore illegal, following appeals by taxpayers. The decision referred to the areas of Psyhico and Filothei in northern Athens, Neos Voutzas, in northeastern Attica, and Delphi.

A well-known Greek businessman and high-profile representative of foreign defense manufacturers was arrested late Monday evening in Athens. Thomas Liakounakos was apprehended by police after an arrest warrant was issued in relation to charges stemming from a case involving a contract with the multinational Ericsson.
Police destroys Greece's biggest heroin haul
Greek authorities incinerated 2.1 tons of heroin at a secret location on Wednesday. The drug was seized during raids on a home in Filothei, northern Athens, and two warehouses in Koropi, eastern Attica, earlier this year.

Businessman denies involvement in drug ring
The 62-year-old director of a fuel company based in Dubai denied on Monday in a Piraeus court that he had anything to do with the Noor One, a ship that transported a ton of heroin to Greece earlier this year.

Albanian remanded in custody in heroin smuggling case
A 29-year-old Albanian national arrested in a case involving over 1.3 ton of heroin seized by authorities in Attica last week was remanded in custody on Friday.
The suspect, who surrendered to police last week, was expected to be transferred to Halkida Prison later in the day.
