Trial of daily Cumhuriyet journalists, executives enters fourth day

The trial of daily Cumhuriyet journalists and executives entered its fourth day on July 27. 

Journalist Hikmet Çetinkaya was the first to testify in the fourth hearing.
The charges directed at the Cumhuriyet journalists include "membership of an armed terrorist organization" and "helping an armed terrorist organization while not being a member of it."

550 ex-lawmakers, including former leaders, to launch 'No' campaign

Some 550 former members of parliament, who served in 16 different political parties including the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), have launched a "No" campaign ahead of the April 16 referendum on whether to shift Turkey to an executive presidential system.

Fikret Otyam laid to rest after a ceremony

A ceremony was held yesterday at the Ankara Contemporary Arts Center for famous painter, journalist and author Fikret Otyam, who died on Aug. 9 at the age of 89 in the southern province of Antalya. 

The ceremony began with a moment of silence and continued with a speech delivered by Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal K?l?çdaro?lu.
