France evacuating nationals from Libya

France was evacuating its nationals from Libya on Tuesday amid increasing lawlessness and unrest, a government source said, after similar moves by other European nations.
      
There are less than 100 French nationals in Libya and they will be taken out of the country by ship, the source said, adding that the operation would be over by the afternoon.
      

Village near Stara Zagora Holds Sod-Turning Event for Waste Plant

A project for the construction of a regional municipal waste treatment facility near the village of Rakitnitsa, Stara Zagora district, has been launched.

However, the project will be stopped after the sod-turning ceremony until it gets its EU funding restored, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Radio.

Serbian citizens advised to leave Libya immediately

BELGRADE -- The Serbian Foreign Ministry advises all Serbian citizens to leave Libya immediately, and refrain from traveling there, FM Ivica Dačić said on Tuesday.

The advisory was made in view of the escalating armed conflicts in Libya and the extremely volatile security situation in Tripoli.

Gela Bagpipe Contest to Take Place This Weekend

The traditional Rhodope bagpipe (kaba gaida) contest in Bulgaria's village of Gela will take place on August 2 and 3.

This would be the 11-th year of the festival, which takes place in the first weekend of August in celebration of St. Ilia, near the St. Ilia chapel above the village in the heart of the Rhodope mountains. 

Archaeological council bans international climbers' gathering at Meteora

The Greek Central Archaeological Council (KAS) has banned an international festival of climbers at the giant rock formations at Meteora, in Thessaly, central Greece.

More than 1,000 visitors – including climbers, spectators and journalists – were expected to take part in the annual Petzl Roctrip contest between September 29 – October 3.
