Romania could send upon request experts to Frontex, the European Union agency that manages the cooperation between national border guards, President Klaus Iohannis declared on Thursday evening, after the extraordinary meeting of the European Council; he said solidarity was needed with the states around the Mediterranean Sea facing immigration problems.

Credible measures are needed in support to the economic development of the countries of origin as solution to prevent long-term migration, president Klaus Iohannis said on Thursday, before taking off to the EU extraordinary summit in Brussels summoned in the context of the aggravation of the crisis represented by the North Africa immigrants flow.

President Klaus Iohannis signed on Thursday the decree releasing Tatiana Niculescu Bran from the office of presidential spokesperson and communication advisor, the Presidential Administration informed.

President Klaus Iohannis and the main parties in Romania's parliament held a new round of consultations on changing the election laws on Monday, aiming to make political funding more transparent and ease the access to voting for Romanians living abroad.

President Klaus Iohannis on Monday, after the consultations with the parliamentary parties and groups, said that there is an agreement on the legislation regarding the local elections, the parliamentary elections and the vote in the diaspora.
