Charles III to be crowned king in first UK coronation since 1953

Charles III will be crowned king on Saturday in a solemn Christian ceremony steeped in 1,000 years of history and tradition, but adapted to reflect 21st-century Britain.

St Edward's Crown -- a solid gold, sacred symbol of the monarch's authority used only once in their reign -- will be placed on Charles's head at 1100 GMT to cries of "God Save the King".

The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a baby boy - on St George's Day - with Prince William by her side.

Kensington Palace tweeted at 1pm: "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs.

"The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz.

"The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.

"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."

Fighting the French, Scots, Welsh, Irish, or their own nobility in a string of civil wars, they could not have kept their throne without victories on the battlefield.

Caretaker Prime Minister Ognyan Gerdzhikov has required of his cabinet to present reports on the state of each ministry in not more than two weeks.

During the first meeting of the interim government, which took over last week, he has called on ministers to pull themselves together "to the maximum".
