Ljubljana – President Borut Pahor has expanded his initiative for cooperation among political parties with a call for a meeting of leaders of all parliamentary parties. STO wins tourism video competition

Ljubljana – A video by the Slovenian Tourism Board (STO) has won first place in the ETC-CIFFT Video Competition, organised by the European Travel Commission (ETC) and the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT). Titled Time to Stay Home. Turn to Nature and Dream, the video promotes social responsibility amid the coronavirus pandemic.

SD announces motion to oust Culture Minister Simoniti

Ljubljana – Former Culture Minister Dejan Prešiček from the opposition Social Democrats (SD) announced on Friday that a motion to oust Culture Minister Vasko Simoniti would be filed before 8 February, Culture Day. He said this would probably be one of the biggest presents to Slovenian culture for the holiday.

Left mulling no-confidence vote against education minister

Ljubljana – The opposition Left is working on a motion to dismiss Education Minister Simona Kustec because the government has decided to close schools in two regions next week after only four days of in-person education.

Education and children’s needs have never been the government’s priority, the party said in a written statement on Thursday.

Slovenia remains attractive for Austrian investments

Ljubljana – Slovenia remains an attractive investment destination for Austrian companies despite the pandemic, shows a survey conducted by the Austrian trade office Advantage Austria Ljubljana among its members. Investments are being postponed due to Covid-19, but most companies think that Slovenia will keep its investment allure in 2021.
