2,085 militants "neutralized" since launch of Turkey's Operation Euphrates Shield: Turkish military
The total number of the "neutralized" militants in northern Syria since the ongoing Turkey-led Operation Euphrates Shield was launched last Aug., is at least 2,085, according to the latest data of the Turkish military.
1,775 of these neutralized are ISIL militants, the weekly statement of the Turkish general staff said.
Turkey expects change in US policy over Syrian Kurds: Defense Minister
Turkey hopes the new U.S. administration will change its policy of cooperation with the People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria, Turkish Defense Minister Fikri Işık said on Jan. 12.
He reiterated that he believed the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) was a "terrorist organization."
US Senate Committee Backs Montenegro's Bid To Join NATO
BELGRADE - The U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee has approved a resolution supporting Montenegro's membership in NATO, sending it to the full Senate for a vote.
The committee backed the small Balkan state's bid to join the military alliance last year, but it did not come up for a vote in the full Senate, where a two-thirds majority is required for approval of new NATO members.
US Tanks Start Arriving in Poland
US tanks and armoured fighting vehicles have started arriving in Poland.
This is part of the decision of Barack Obama in response to growing concerns of NATO member-states with respect to Russian behavior.
Over 3,500 soldiers have been deployed. This marks the largest US military presence in Europe over the last several decades.

US Senate Committee Backs Montenegro's NATO Bid
The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved a resolution on Wednesday supporting Montenegro's accession to NATO, in a second attempt to push the Balkan's country membership bid.
The committee passed a resolution in December 2016, but the full Senate did not reach consensus on Montenegro before the end of the year.

11 ISIL militants killed in northern Syria
At least 11 Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants were killed in northern Syria in the last 24 hours as part of Turkey's ongoing Euphrates Shield operation, according to a Turkish General Staff statement released on Jan. 11.

Turkish troops to retreat at end of Mosul offensive but camp should be Iraqi: Ambassador
Turkey and Iraq have agreed that Turkish troops will withdraw from the Bashiqa camp in northern Iraq after the end of the Mosul offensive, but Baghdad wants the camp to immediately be turned over to Iraq, Iraqi Ambassador to Ankara Hisham al-Allawi said.
