Turkish Court Accepts Indictment on Outlawing Pro-Kurdish Party

The country's top court conducted its first examination on Monday and unanimously agreed to accept the chief prosecutor's indictment and officially start the closure case.

Turkey's Constitutional Court has accepted an indictment seeking the closure of the opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).

The 843-page indictment, which was prepared by Bekir Şahin, the chief prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeals, also demands that 451 party members be banned from politics.

Turkey's Constitutional Court accepted an indictment seeking the closure of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), broadcaster CNN Türk has reported.

The top court conducted its first examination on June 21 and unanimously ruled for the acceptance of the indictment.

The indictment will be sent to the HDP for a preliminary defense.

According to the HDP, the man fired several times, damaging the building and then took party staffer Deniz Poyraz hostage and later killed her.

Constitutional Court to conduct first review in case seeking HDP’s closure

Turkey's Constitutional Court will conduct its first examination on June 21 in a case filed for the closure of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).

A Constitutional Court rapporteur will complete his examination of the indictment and present it to the delegation, and at the meeting to be held on June 21, they will decide whether the indictment will be accepted or not.

Turkish prosecutor refiles indictment seeking ban on HDP

Turkey's top prosecutor on June 7 refiled an indictment seeking dissolution of the opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).

The indictment calls HDP an undemocratic party that colludes with the terrorist group PKK and seeks to destroy the unity of the state.

The indictment was previously returned by the Constitutional Court due to missing details.
