Reactions to the 2019 Turkish offensive into north-eastern Syria

Current and future operations across Turkey's southern borders are necessary for the country's national security, the Turkish National Security Council said on May 26.

Dendias called on Turkey to stop undermining NATO unity

Turkey's defense minister said he had a "positive" meeting with his Greek counterpart in Brussels, on the sidelines of a gathering of their NATO colleagues.

"We had a positive and constructive meeting with the Greek defense minister (Nikos Panagiotopoulos)," Hulusi Akar told reporters late on Oct. 22.

"We expect to see the positive results of this meeting in the coming days."

The Turkish Foreign Ministry slammed a report released on Oct. 19 by the European Commission on Turkey's membership process, saying it once again reflected the double standard approach towards the country.

Defense Minister Hulusi Akar has warned Greece over an arms race against Turkey after a military agreement between Paris and Athens.

Turkey on Sept. 30 vowed to contribute to the fight against climate change.

This came in a meeting of the country's National Security Council chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the capital Ankara. The meeting lasted for about three and half hours.

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has vowed to resolve the Syrian question and contribute to establishing peace and stability in the neighboring country.

 İYİ (Good) Party chair Meral Akşener criticized the attitude of the European Union for making Turkey a country of shelter for refugees but also warned against being hostile to those people.
